MEET DR. DUCKWORTH

Dr. Sandy Duckworth, a Tullahoma native, has been with Eye MD Ophthalmology since 2011.  She provides care to patients of all ages within our community.  Dr. Duckworth extends her services to patients in local nursing homes and at Tennova Healthcare – Harton.  She is therapeutically trained and certified to provide each patient with the very best care.  Dr. Duckworth is married to Justin and has a daughter, Lily.  When Dr. Duckworth is not in the office, you can find her coaching youth soccer for Camp Forest Futbol Club or attending South Jackson Civic Center where her daughter enjoys performing both in dance and theatre. 

SKILLS AND SPECIALITIES

Dr. Duckworth has received extensive training in prescribing glasses and fitting contact lenses as well as diagnosing and treatment of ocular disease.  She provides complete optometric services including eye health examinations, medicinal treatment for conditions of the eye and eyelid, and comanagement of postoperative care.  She has a special interest in providing care to children and adults of special needs. 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Dr. Duckworth received both her undergraduate and doctorate of optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.  Prior to her time in Boston, she studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  After leaving Boston, Dr. Duckworth received further training in a LASIK eye center and also at the Veterans Administration honing in her skills to care for patients of all ages and demographics.

SOCIETIES AND MEMBERSHIPS

Dr. Duckworth is a member of the American Academy of Optometry.  She continually is expanding her knowledge by attending continuing education courses to ensure her patients are receiving the best treatment with the best technology available.
